India's first ever Day/Night Test at Eden Gardens, Kolkata saw an interesting day, with the hosts taking command at stumps. The Indian seamers bowled out the opposition for 106 in the first innings, after which Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara scored fifties each as India reached 174/3 at stumps, with a lead of 68 runs.
Our correspondent on the dropped catch
"No, Al Amin cannot blame the pink ball or flood lights for that drop catch. He didn't need to move an inch, the ball landed straight in his lap at the fine-leg boundary and for the large part he looked set to easily grab that one but the lanky pacer took his eye off the ball."
HUGE MOMENT! ROHIT SHARMA DROPPED FOR 12. He had pulled one straight into deep midwicket and Al Amin let it go out of his hands. This could really hurt Bangladesh in this match.
GONE! Mayank Agarwal slices a delivery outside off stumps to Mehidy Hasan. Al Amin strikes. IND 26/1
India off to quick start
Rohit Sharma and Mayank Agarwal got off to a solid start in the match. Both the batsmen are scoring runs in boundaries and are easing and are looking solid in the middle.
Indian openers take guard
Mayank Agarwal starts off with a cut through point and collects a boundary. He then churns the strike over and Rohit Sharma now takes guard.
Bangladesh 106 all out
Sensational effort by the Indian bowlers, Ishant Sharma bagged his 10th 5 wickets haul and Shami and Umesh chipped in as Bangladesh were tormented and eventually knocked over for 106 runs.
Aritra Mukherjess, reporting from Kolkata, says: A standing ovation for Ishant Sharma after walks back to the fine leg boundary. Eden knows how to appreciate its bowlers. It has been a top notch performance from Ishant Sharma
Angled ball, Mehidy flicks, the ball carries to Cheteshwar Pujara who grabs a smart catch at short mid-wicket. The end is extremely near for Bangladesh!
Mehidy is replacing Liton
Liton has been substituted, Mehidy has replaced him as a concussion substitute. He might not be allowed to bowl here.
Ebadot sent packing
This was bound to happen, Ebadot was backing away too far and exposing the stumps and Ishant has knocked him over. With Liton out injured, Bangladesh are effectively 8 down.
This is fiery from Mohammed Shami, he is at Nayeem all the time, battering him with short stuff. The batsman is trying to get out of the way, but the ball is following him. And well, he has also got two boundaries in that over.
Nayeem has been hit
And now, Shami has smacked Nayeem on the head. This is nasty bowling and Bangladesh have nowhere to go. He is being tended to by the physio, even Nitin Patel is out there.
We are back
Liton Das is not out there. He was hit by Shami in the first session, this is another body blow for Bangladesh, he was looking quite solid. India will look to wrap this up fairly quickly now.
To say it has been India's session would be an under estimation... India have been all over Bangladesh. Ishant, Umesh and Shami ran through the Bangladesh top-order to reduce them to 73 for six.at the Tea break... . Credit must go to the catching of India's fielders too. Rohit took a blinder at second slip and Saha took another one-handed blinder.
